Woman of the Year Award: General Information

In 1987 the Montreal Council of Women initiated an annual luncheon and a Woman of the Year Award. This is an occasion to recognize a woman who made a significant contribution to the betterment of the community. There has been a growing interest and we thank the many federated societies and individual members who have presented nominations.  It was started by members Sophie Economides and Kay Aksich and has recognized women from the social, cultural, educational and health fields.

We hold the luncheon every year at the beginning of December.  In August the application form is available for members to submit names of women who fit the criteria for the particular topic of the year.
