The 2011 Woman of the Year Award Recipients

The 2011 Women of the Year Award Winners are The Honorable Lucie Pepin, retired Senator, and Mildred L. Burns, retired McGill Professor of Education.   We are delighted and honored to have Madame Pépin and Dr. Burns as the MCW Women of the Year for 2011. 

The 2011 Woman of the Year luncheon took place on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Mount Stephen Club, 1440 rue Drummond (St. Catherine).

The Theme for the competition for 2011 is Women Promoting the Advancement of Women. 

A woman who has worked to facilitate the advancement of women by breaking down barriers in a particular field.  The candidate need not be a member of MCW.  She must have contributed and portrays the following: 

• is concerned with the advancement of women
• has worked to promote women in a particular field, e.g. education, equality, family, health, pay equity, seniors, youth, women on public and private boards
• has demonstrated leadership, courage and resourcefulness
• has initiated innovative actions, programs or projects
• has been an inspiration to others
